GREAT BUY! Mar 08, 2010
By MetroGnome I have had my screen for a few years now and am so pleased with it that I am about to purchase a second one (which is why I am remembering now to write this review). I was very surprized (and a little skeptical to be honest) about what to expect with the price I was seeing. I must say however that I was EXTREMELY and pleasantly surprized when I actually got it and installed it.
The reason I have given it four (4) and not five (5) stars is that I would have loved to see the manual controls come with a longer cord. I don't think it an unreasonable stretch that where the majority of people will mount this they would not be able to reach the manual controls. I had to extend mine, which was not terribly difficult at all if you have access to an electrician (doesn't even have to be an expert).
That said, this screen does offer wall mounting and and mid-air suspension. I was worried about the sway effect, since mine was mounted to hang from the ceiling... much to my surprize though it was properly weighted and exhibits VERY little sway, even on very windy days. The surface makes for great multimedia projecting, the movement is smooth and reliable, the remote works for me without any problems and so do the manual controls which has up, down and pause functions for the roll-down screen.
All in all I definitely recommend this purchase.
P.S. May be difficult to transport in a typical car.
Not perfect, but what a value!!! Dec 21, 2011
By Olddetailer Even if you have a 60" LED TV you are still watching TV...you need a projector to have a home theatre!
Very hefty and not cheaply built. It feels like a solid piece of machinery when you unpack it. I gave it four stars because it is not as quiet as Accuscreens will have you believe. The motor and drive are about as loud as a normal conversation. Which is to say it isn't that bad, but it sure isn't "ultra-quiet".
Count on needing two people to mount the screen as it is long. But installation was a snap and I'm pleased with the final result. The reflectivity of the 1:1 screen is what you'd expect from a properly white painted wall. Don't expect miracles! But the "wow" factor of the electric screen from my kids and their friends is worth a couple of hundred!
About those remotes; count on them breaking. They are the stereotypical kind of Chinese electronics at it's worse. At least they give you two remotes and the wall switch. My suggestion to Accuscreens is to charge a few bucks more and get a better RF remote.
There will be a strong plastic odor for a while. I've been leaving the screen down and letting it air out when I'm not home for a couple of weeks and the odor has been weakening. All worth it for the price.
Pretty good Dec 24, 2009
By Kenneth J. Pettifer The screen seems pretty well constructed and its' operation is very smooth and quiet, but the power cord has the controler/receiver half way along it, so that it hangs down the wall and looks very unsightly. It would have been better if it had been right where it plugs into the wall socket. ALSO........THE REMOTE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK!
Somwhat overpriced, made in china, OK surface Jun 10, 2009

"electronics guy"
The first one arrived with a motor problem and the remote died within a week. The second one is fine but the battery inside the remote keeps getting loose and you need a screwdriver to fix it. The remote trigger is not compatible with standard 12V triggers found on most receivers and projectors. For the price it might still be OK for most.
