perfect card Nov 09, 2008
By J. Taylor I installed this in my PC with no issues at all. I just put the card in the slot, hooked up my 4 drives and off I went. I am using this on an AMD64 running Ubuntu Linux.

No issues after 2 years Feb 28, 2010
By S. Mason I have this installed on a PC running windows 2003 server for over 2 years and have had no issues with it. Great card!
Works great in a Dell T110 Apr 10, 2011
By Danisoid The install was simple and easy. Immediately recognized by the Dell BIOS and Server 2008. Is installed for no-boot, 1 TB RAID 1 storage. The only negative is that it took 12 hours to create the array with 2 similar 7.2K HDs. It is a lot compare to other controllers I used on other machines.

It Doesn't Work - Adaptec Support is the Worst Apr 07, 2009

This was supposed to be a way of adding up to four drives to my system, which includes an ASUS P5E3 Premium motherboard. Instead when I added the card, my computer hung intermittently at boot-up (XP SP3). It took a while to figure out that the cause of the hang-ups was as the Adaptec 1430 was polling the drives.
Adaptec tried an RMA and the new card performed the same way. Then they said it was my drives - 3 different manufacturer/models of drives have the same hang. Besides what type of driver when it has a problem hangs the entire computer? None of these were boot drives and were always setup as JBODs.
So here we are months after I could return the card for a refund with a card that I can't use. Having the computer successfully boot 1 time out of 3 is not something that can be used.
Adaptec tech support has gone silent on me. So, I'll spend the time I'd be trouble-shooting on writing accurate technical reviews of their card and technical support. Too bad Adaptec isn't the company it used to be.
Stay away from this card unless you are sure it will work with your system.
