An elegant cooling pad that works Jun 05, 2010
By Stella Soon after I bought my new MacBook Pro 15", I discovered that it can get very hot, especially since I live in a very warm place. I went to the nearest store and bought the best cooling pad they had. There wasn't much to choose from, and I was a novice; so I thought it would do. It didn't: it was too small for my notebook, and it only had two small fans that don't help at all, since they're not in the place where a MacBook gets hot. The Aeolus cooling pad is near perfection: it has a huge fan that covers almost all the base of my computer; the notebook fits almost perfectly on the cooling pad, and even though it's aluminium, since the surface it's not solid, the air goes through apropiately and the cooling pad itself doesn't get hot. Overall, I do feel an improvement. My computer is cooler than before and it takes more time to get hot, and even then, not as hot as it was before. The cooling pad also looks great on silver, and now my hands rest in a very comfortable position; I think it'll be great for my health. I really love it and I recomend it for MacBook Pro 15" owners. It might be a little too big for 13", but it would still be more effective than other cooling pads. A warning, though: it's not designed to use on your lap; but it's perfect to use on a table, as a desk stand. It's sturdy, well made, well designed, aluminium made, and stylish; and the best of all, it works!

I am an advanced computer user. I bought this on Amazon because my aging Dell inspiron E1505 is heating up routinely. I have tried changing the thermal paste on the processor and it helps, but not enough. The problem seems to be with the hard disk and/or the thermal cooling pathway. I use speedfan (highly recommended free software) to monitor temperagures. I regularly achieve about 10 degrees Celsius of cooling on my hard disk. Therefore, I can say that this cooling fan definitely works. Due to the large fan, there is no hassle of placement. The fan is also surprisingly quiet. I have tried cheaper fans, which also work but not as well as this one. I also like this design because it has a sloped region to place your wrist - with other products, your wrist uncomfortably dangles off the laptop. The only con is that you can't easily carry this cooling pad around, but if your laptop needs a cooling pad to work, then it is too unreliable to keep moving around in any case. I Highly recommend this cooling pad.
