Description:

This USB innovation from Belkin makes it more convenient than ever to plug in up to four peripherals to your Mac computer, quickly and easily. The Hub provides four downstream USB ports that deliver Plug-and-Play connectivity for USB 1.1 (low and full speed) and USB 2.0 (high speed) devices. Connecting USB 2.0 devices enables transfer speeds of up to 480Mbps-for an array of peripherals, such as scanners, printers, mass-storage drives, and high-resolution cameras. The Hub is self-powered and allows cascading, which means you can connect multiple USB devices-up to as many as 127-through a single USB port. Its unique design lets you position the four downstream ports toward the back of your computer for efficient cable management, or to the front if you prefer easier port access. LEDs give you an easy way to monitor master power and individual port status.

5Great Little 'Smart' Hub for mixed USB  Mar 08, 2007
By Peter Ward "Too Little Time"
This is a nice, small USB 2.0 hub. If you mixing older or slower USB

stuff, like mice or joysticks, with high speed USB 2.0 devices, like my

Audigy NX sound 'card', this hub is perfect. It has a separate controller

circuit for each port (I am simplifying), to better split up the bandwidth.

This way, the slow stuff doesn't eat it up. Kind of like sticking all the

slow cars in one lane, so the fast cars can go zoom.

Looks good, works great.

1Works for a while then, plunk  Aug 28, 2011

This item worked fine for a while, then it started erratically disconnecting and screwing up other devices connected to the USB bus. So far Belkin is batting 0/3 --- the failures of: 1) the F5U234 USB hub, 2) my Belkin 4-port ethernet router, which would black out under too much traffic, and 3) my Belkin MasterCube F9H120-CW 1-Outlet Wall-Mount Surge Protector, which short-circuited and blew the breaker at the hotel I was staying in. I will avoid Belkin and choose other brands in the future. I replaced Belkin F5U234 hub with a Plugable USB 2.0 10 Port Hub (with Power Adapter) which I hope will work better. I replaced the Belkin ethernet router with an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11N (5TH GEN) and it works great.

5Great USB Hub!  Aug 27, 2011
By S. Bernstein "SandBerns"
I've had this USB hub for several years. It's been wonderful. I am now purchasing another one since I now have enough USB devices to warrant stacking a second hub onto the first. I agree that it does move around as it's very light, but that doesn't bother me at all. In fact it makes it easy to pull closer to plug and unplug devices. I highly recommend this hub!

4It does what it says it will do  Jun 09, 2008
By Dan Neal "labrat"
The shape allows you to insert USB peripherals into every slot including outsized ones like CompactFlash and SD flash readers.

The external power dongle is small enough to fit into a standard power strip without covering other plugs and still allows a full complement of high power USB peripherals.

My only complaint is that the hub is so light that it can be moved by the weight of the USB cords if not properly positioned.

Overall, a great value for the price with terrific functionality.

4It works! However,  Apr 11, 2007
By Loaay Ahmed
If you haven't connected the hub to electricity directly and your computer is on 'sleep' or 'stand by' mode, you won't be able to recharge your iPod or any other item that can charge through a USB. But I think that's a computer issue rather than a hub issue.

Other than that, it works like a charm!
