This card does work but is cheaply made Feb 08, 2007
By Stephen714 After trying many similar cards, the Belkin card seems to work more reliably than most. However, in light of it's very high price, it is quite annoying to find the card is put together so poorly (or perhaps of cheap parts) that it will fall apart at the slightest trauma. This card is put together cheaply so the warranty that comes with it was appealling. However, do not count on Belkin to honor the warranty or to even reply to requests for warranty repair, etc. They have ignored all of my attempts to get any response about warranty coverage over a two year period so watch out for this and possibly other Belkin products.

Works Mar 23, 2012
By Mike It works as promised only problem is that you can not use some USB items without plugging in the power adapter. The GPS is one that wont work so I just plug it in the 1 USB port the laptop had on the back.

BELKIN USB2 PCI card Aug 12, 2007
By eJud2001 I tried other cheaper ones- stick with the Belkin- it works, and seems to be the only one that does without problems of one sort or another. Search the web for problems with others. I am running a Toshiba 5105 with XP, no SP. It does seem to add a bit of noise to my phone line??? But it works and installed easily with no problems.
It works on an old Toshiba Apr 09, 2011

What can you say except that it works on an old Toshiba laptop I use as a printer server and have a scanner hooked to. You have to provide plug-in power to do anything however. Won't even recognize a thumb drive unless outside power supplied. Decreases time of 38GB backup from 8 hours to 3. Can you believe how long USB 1 took?
This USB Card Works! Feb 14, 2011
I have read reviews and tried other PCMCIA USB cards. My laptop(s) were USB 1.0 and therefore significantly slower when using an external USB hard drive. THe other brand of USB card was neither detectable by Windows XP Pro without or with the supposed driver. The Belkin USB card installed and operated right from the start. It has been in use for the past two months without any issue. I recommend this brand and source for those looking to stretch their older laptops a while longer and also get a performance boost.
