Not bad, but could be improved. Jan 08, 2009
By G. Edwards I just bought this hub and there are definitely some improvements that can be made. For one thing, the USB cord is much too long - I just wanted to plug it right into my computer's USB port. A couple of inches would have been enough. Also, the ports are very close together which can be a problem when plugging in a flash drive. But one of the ports is on the end of the hub, so that is useful for things like that and leaves the other three ports for USB cords that can go side by side. There's no on/off switch for the light which might be annoying if you were working on a red eye or overnight flight with lights dimmed for the sleeping passengers.
The hub comes with a power adapter without any clear explanation of its purpose. I assumed it was just for the light because the hub normally works fine without being plugged into a power source. I later found out that it is there in case you start to draw serious power from the hub. Without the adapter, the hub is only providing 500mA for all four ports. This isn't a problem if you are using low powered devices. With the power adapter, the hub provides 500mA for each port.

Belkin F5U403 Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Lighted Hub Nov 28, 2010
By AntiBanany Perfect plug and play (iMac 10.6.5, Intel Core i7). My thumb drive transfers MUCH faster now, even though I have two older USB devices hooked up to the Belkin - a printer and scanner that date to the jellybean iMac era.
Plus, this thing is so small it's unbelievable - not much bigger than the thumb drive. Nice blue lighted center, with a red light at upper left. It's pretty bright and might be distracting unless you place it out of immediate sight, like behind the monitor. Still looks cool.
I could not be more pleased with the performance - which I bet is largely due to the fact it is a powered hub. Has three slots on the right side and one in the front for easy thumb drive access.

Perfect so far! Jul 16, 2011
By mylewood fast and reliable shipping plus two step installation (plug in power and usb) Mac Mini did the rest. The hardest part was getting it out of the box, when inspecting the hub I noticed that on the side where it clips together is loose and has scratch marks like it was apart at one time. Is this a refurbished device? Did I miss that in the description? At this point who cares! I used <...> as my search engine, watched a few video's, answered a few polls, signed up for a couple free subscriptions/surveys and had enough points for two $5 amazon gift cards, after a week of processing I attached the gift cards to amazon and made this purchase. Zero cost to me. All in all I have had this device for over a month and have had no problems with it. It charges my iPhone as advertised as I am sure it would for any other usb charging devices. I would recommend this product to anyone that is looking for a four port 2.0 usb hub with power.

Happy Dec 04, 2010
By Ben It does exactly what I need from a USB hub. It's not too big and it doesn't try to squeeze in any extra bells and whistles. I also like the soft glow.

Pure Junk! Sep 10, 2011

You won't see many reviews from me but I want to serve fair warning to all about this device. Being in the I.T. field and build networks and software systems, you learn a bit about computer devices and what to expect.
Do not expect much from this ultra "cheap" device.
1. Your computer may not recongize it. 2. There is no device driver known to Windows 7 to help. 3. Benklin does not offer a driver. 4. If you "sort of" get it going it will take your printers "offline" and you cannot get them back without reboot. 5. On reboot or a cold start it FREEZES YOUR COMPUTER until you unplug the hub. 6. There is no way to turn the light off. 7. It gets too hot. 8. There was a "snapping" or "cracking" sound every now and then but no hardware was fried - thank God. 9. Did I mention, it was only used for 3 hours!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I used the power supply to keep the connections flowing properly.
I will eat the money for you would have to return it to the 3rd Party seller and pay shipping just deepening the money pit on this device. Always buy directly from Amazon for evertying I have bought 3rd party was overpriced, cheaply made, took longer to receive and a hassle to return.
