5Works great for our offices  Jun 30, 2011
By A. To
I've been using these labels for over 5 years in 3 offices and they work great. I actually use it specifically because it has the double row that others dislike for waste. I use them for name labels and need duplicates. I was able to trick the printer to use both rows, so nothing is wasted. It can only be tricked with earlier versions of the p-touch software. I found the more recent software does not allow using the double row so I uninstalled it and put back the original version.

4Easiest Labels  Mar 25, 2009
By Courtney S. Putnam "C.S. Putnam"
Although a previous reviewer hit the waste that is created by this machine, it still creates fantastic labels. The waste is probably mandated by the size of cartridge that is required to fit into the machine. If you can get beyond wasting 100 feet X 9/16" worth of material to have a perfect 1/2" label, then you will love this machine. I have been using this machine (QL-650TD) for about a year now and have nothing but good things to say about it.

UPDATE: I actually use the "waste" to seal the envelopes I put the labels on. I like this option much better than licking envelopes.

This printer is excellent. It prints address labels upon command quickly and easily. You will need to download free software from Brother.

4LABEL PAPER WASETED?  Mar 29, 2009
By TheMadHatter
I was surprised that the continuous lable is 1 inch (25mm) wide SPLIT in two so that the bottom half can NOT be prnted on. I called Brother and said this is a waste of label. I was assured it was not a waste of label. Ok, but one has to throw away, or figure out a way to use the bottom split-off half of the the continuous DK2214 label they printed.
I suggested that there is a better way to run a railroad. The printed part of the labels turn out fine. I think excellent. This DK2214 is the only label, I found, that I have used out of four that has some part that can not be used.

2must have been a bad batch  Nov 19, 2011
By momtodogs
I've had my Brother QL-570 label printer for a couple of years, and love it for ease of use. Granted, there is a shameful (on the part of the manufacturer) waste of paper, but it is cost-efficient for me. As another reviewer mentioned, the excess can be used to seal envelopes.....

However,.....the last cartridge (1/2" continuous) I received (from Amazon) barely sticks to itself, let alone other surfaces. I still print the labels (for neatness sake), but have to anchor them down with tape. I hope this cartridge came from a bad batch, rather than a change in manufacturing. I'm glad I only ordered one, this time.
