Look elsewhere Jan 15, 2010
By T. Berkheimer Unlike the other reviewer, this product was exactly what I was looking for (DVI video card with a DVI cable needed to plug into a VGA monitor). Unfortunately it didn't work and the cost of shipping it back would be more than just buying a new one. I simply had no input detected by the monitor. I did test other scenarios to ensure this was the only component that didn't work. I guess my next step is to try a DVI (M) to VGA (F) adapter and use a VGA cable. I thought this would have been the cheaper route since I already had a DVI cable. I was wrong.

Every other reviewer is quite correct Jan 20, 2010
By ChessOak This product seems to be intended to connect to a VGA-out port and allow one to connect a DVI cable (monitor) on the other side. It claims to be DVI-I, which is both digital (DVI-D)and analog (DVI-A) for an explanation). Despite the multiple warnings that this product does not work, I chose to ignore the reviews and ordered one. It does fit into the analog VGA connector on the back of my PC, and it allowed me to connect my DVI-D monitor to the PC. However, no signal!
I connected a VGA screen to the VGA out port and got a signal. So I can only surmise that it does not do any conversion (I do not know if it is merely a matter of internal wiring) to provide for output on the digital connectors of the plug.
If you have a DVI-A monitor (I don't even know if such a beast exist), this may well convert your VGA output to DVI-A, but do not expect it to provide DVI-D output if connected to a VGA port. And you cannot connect it to anything else.
This product also does not seem to be designed to take DVI output from a video card and provide a VGA attachemnt, since the connectors are wrong. If it was DVI male to VGA female, that would have been possible.
As it is, I am left wondering what solution this product addresses.

I never write reviews for items I buy online, but I feel like I need to warn prospective buyers away from this. Like the previous reviewer (whose input I sadly did not read) I knew exactly the adapter I needed. This is it, but it does not work. Period. After an hour with my computer's tech support, I am certain that this item has no function. Except perhaps as a paper-weight. And owing to its size, I doubt it could hold down more than a single business card in a light breeze. Avoid this adapter.

It does what it should Mar 06, 2012
By Tom No complaints here. I needed an adapter to hook my old computer up to my HDTV via the DVI port and this did the trick. As advertised.

That was an easy transaction and the part was exactly what we needed. Thanks for the confidence we can have in your company delivering not only what we ordered but that it will arrive as expected. Your pictures and descriptions are helpful. These parts are very close to one another and I would have been worried otherwise that I may have ordered the wrong part. Thanks
