3Good enough for $3.45, but picture is deceptive  Jan 26, 2011
By Sbab
First of all, let me say that the seller of this item was great. They shipped the item next day, and it arrived soon after. Extremely good for free shipping and only a $3.45 item.

The product however is only ok.

While this product will do it's job, it is much lower quality than it appears in the picture.

The cord itself is much thinner than the picture leads one to believe. In the picture, it looks as if you will be getting a cord that looks pretty much like you would expect. But instead you will be getting an extremely cheap version.

The cord material is very soft, and does not have separate channels built in for the wires under the sheathing as the picture shows (that ribbing you see going down the center in the photo). What this means is there is a much higher chance of this cord shorting out over it's lifetime. The hot and neutral wires, while insulated themselves, are right up against each other inside the sheath, instead of having that extra layer of protection of the black outer sheath separating them. (which just about every store bought cord will have, and is probably a UL requirement).

The cord also has an odd feel to it, and seems to leave a chalky residue on your hands. It brings to mind how cheaper products have the California warning on them "warning contains lead a substance known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects. Wash hands after handling". While this product contains no such warning, you have to wonder what chemicals go into a $3.45 product that feels so odd to the touch.

The hot and neutral prongs on the end are different lengths for some reason also, which is not pictured. I have never seen this on a product before. Usually one prong is thicker than the other, but never different lengths. Just another oddity.

I'm sure this product will do it's job, and for $3.45 shipped, it has the potential to be a great investment (as long as it never shorts out and destroys your equipment).

Just be aware that you are not getting the item pictured! And also be aware of the potential problems that may arise from the poor design of the cord itself that I discussed above, and hope the internal wires never get hot enough to melt together where there is no safety margin like American UL listed products have.

1Feels very cheap, does not match picture/description  Jun 29, 2011
By Peter J Moriarty
The review from "Sbab" is extremely accurate on all counts. For such a low price, it's hard to go wrong, as long as the product works, right?

Unfortunately, I had very specific requirements, as I'm using the power cord in a business application, whereby I send equipment to our customers. The cheap feel of this cable is out of place with the rest of my equipment. It's soft, thin and flimsy, and I have no way of verifying that the product I received is in fact a "Cables Unlimited" branded product.

Furthermore, one of the product photos had a comment attached to it that said the plug is not polarized, but it absolutely is (one prong is "fatter" than the other). I require a non-polarized plug, so I can't use this, regardless of how inexpensive it is, it's wasted time and money for me.

Unfortunately, the way Amazon.com seems to work is that it shifts the product listing around to different sellers, depending on availability, so if you get it from a different seller than I did, you might not get the same product. I want to be clear that I received this product from seller "Digi Acc." I received the product promptly, in good condition, and packaging was adequate.

5Works for my needs...  Feb 06, 2012
By F. Bingham
Purchased this along with additional HDMI cables so I can move my AppleTV 2 from room to room without unplugging the power and HDMI cables each time. Plug works as intended and was a great price.

Does the job it is supposed to. It is actually higher quality than the original cable it replaced.

5$2 cable do the job  Oct 17, 2006
By E. Skamagas
I bought this 9 months ago for one simple reason, it was the cheapest. Guess a power cord is a power cord. So, best value for money ever.
