We use this to share a printer between two computers. My only complaint is that we never got the $5 mail in rebate. They said they received our submission, but we never received the check. So, if you buy it, don't expect to get the rebate money back. Hate rebates!!

I was impressed with how easy this item was to setup and how easy it is to switch control from 1 PC to another. You don't have to leave your desk to capture control of the scanner.

Well, it is well-built and switches fast. I used it to switch a keyboard/mouse set from my PC to my laptop. It worked with a USB hub, but I didn't use this setting for long enough to confirm that it will be stable.

I have a work laptop and a home desktop and one printer. Both computers stay in one place and I got tired of connecting and disconnecting the one printer for each computers use. Now I click an icon and switch from one to the other without any difficulty. No ware and tear on connectors.

Cables Unlimited USB-3100 4 to 1 USB 2.0 Automatic Switchbox

I bought this for my husband and when he installed it he discovered it did not work automatically. He has to push the buttons to change it to the computer he's using to use the printer, it does not do it automatically. He has a desktop and a laptop with Win 7 and one laptop with XP. You can contact him at frankfife@q.com or by phone 435-882-3992. Maybe this can be worked out so he won't have to sent it back.
