Works perfectly Dec 26, 2010
By Harkirtin McIver I own a software company and we use this device in front of our web servers. In the 15 months this has been in production, we haven't had a single problem. It's rock solid. But, unless you're smart and willing to learn a lot, be ready to pay a consultant 90-150 / hour to set this up for you. A pro should be able to do most set ups in less than an hour. We have several site to site VPN's that connect to this, and I also dial in to create VPN connections from my laptop. I've been real happy with this purchase.

Cisco Firewall ASA-5505 Sep 27, 2010
By F H Good unit when working. Packed up for no reason after about a week. Called Cisco and they did not have Amazon as an authorized re-seller so no support was offered. Contacted Amazon and they replaced it the next day.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT FROM AMAZON Mar 27, 2011
By Lawrence Byng The product failed after only 8 months of operation.
Called Cisco. They refuse to support the product and will not even talk to the customer because it was purchased through Amazon.
Called Amazon. They are currently giving me the run around.
Very unhappy customer!
For all the satisfaction this product will bring you, you may as well flush your $300+ down the toilet!

Pretty obvious some of the below comments are from people who are not network professionals. We use several of these units and have never had an issue.

Cisco ASA 5505 Security Applicance 50 for VPN Networks Sep 12, 2009
By J. Allman The first unit I received was a refurb or return. Cisco refused to activate a SmartNET agreement because the unit was already under contract. Amazon promptly shipped a new unit that was eligible for SmartNET.
Reviews for the other bundles indicate that Amazon is not an authorized Cisco reseller and therefore Cisco won't activate a SmartNET contract for product purchased through Amazon. I had no trouble activating a contract once the replacement unit was received.
The item description says "Cusco" which is obviously a mispelling of "Cisco".
