Description:

The Wireless-N USB Network Adapter is the simple way to add wireless connectivity to your notebook or desktop computer. Just connect it to your PCs USB port and enjoy incredible high-speed wireless network access, at unheard-of distances distances. The Wireless-N USB Network Adapter uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-Ns Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce dead spots in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to 4 times farther than standard Wireless-G. With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the throughput can be increased even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds up to 12 times as fast as standard Wireless-G.

5Excellent wireless adapter for wireless-n networks  Nov 19, 2006
By Ed
I got this with my new linksys wireless-n router and this little thing works great. In a part of the house where I barely got a signal from my old dlink w-g router I know get a 70-80% strong signal with speeds between 250-350mbps!

I highly recommend this adapter to anyone. That stand, although it comes with the adapter, is not needed. The retail comes with an extra ~1ft long usb extension cord.

Remember: All Linksys wireless-n adapters and routers are backwards compatible to w-b/g.

I hope this helped anyone. The price may seem high but for the speed and reliability you get, you'd wonder why you didn't hear/get it sooner.

5Great Speed  Jul 25, 2007
By Sherri Schriver
First of all, there are Vista and XP drivers for this particular product on the Linksys site. I always download the latest drivers when I get a new piece of hardware for my computer.

I've used Linksys for all my wireless networks for years, and I always go through the stupidity of following the directions to set it up, then uninstalling their firmware and just using the drivers. This time was no different.

With their firmware, the monitor would show me connected with a good signal, but I wouldn't actually be able to open a web page because I didn't have a connection. After chucking the firmware and just using the driver and letting Windows configure it, everything worked perfectly. The speed is amazing.

You'd think I'd learn by now.

5Stable and fast  Mar 01, 2007
By Hayato Iriumi "coldfusion"
I have had three different USB network adapter in the last one year. Linksys WUSB300N Wireless-N USB Network Adapter is the most stable and fastest one.

Prior to this one, I had a similar product from Belkins. Everytime I restarted my machine, somehow the device couldn't start by itself and I often had to unplug it and plug it back in to get it recognized. With Linksys WUSB300N, nothing like that happens. As soon as the computer starts, the device starts to work correctly.

For additional information, I use Netgear WNR854T RangeMax NEXT Wireless Router Gigabit Edition as my router, and Linksys WUSB300N works perfectly fine.

1Avoid this one  Mar 29, 2007
By John Dunn "software developer"
This is one to avoid. I've tried it on two computers, using it with the companion WRT300N router, and it glitches badly on both computers. The speed is an improvement over Wireless-G, but not much; and the stability is much worse. If anyone in the area turns on a microwave oven, or even if there is other wireless traffic, it goes into instability and has to be reset. Also, about every 30-60 seconds, it grabs the CPU for a couple seconds, causing harsh noise from audio and a second or two total halt of any game being played. In Windows XP it shows the 270 Mbps speed, but doing SiSandara benchmarks the actual throughput is a fraction of that, barely better than the 56 or so Mbps of Wireless-G. In Vista, it simply does not recognize the Wireless-N protocol, and works as a very slow Wireless-G; again confirmed with SiSandra benchmarks. Tech support from Linksys these days is a joke. It is offshore support by very nice, very polite people who don't know anything that doesn't pop up in their menus - and more important, who don't have recourse to someone who can answer the tough questions. I tried chat, phone and email support and got tripe each time. In the past I've experienced excellent performance from Linksys products, but it's like a different company now that Cisco has bought them out, a company to be avoided.

1Very disappointing adapter  Jan 24, 2008
By Catherine M.
I researched a couple of wireless devices prior to purchasing the Linksys router and adapter. I figured, "Both from the same company. This should be no problem." This adapter is terrible. Dropped connection, poor signal, freezes the USB port. I read several forums and followed the suggestions. I called Linksys tech support. That call turned out to be the longest 2 hours of my life. I downloaded the most recent drivers for the adapter and for my USB. Nothing seemed to help. The last straw was when the adapter lost my control panel. Don't ask me how, but it did. I disconnected the adaptor for the last time and did a system restore. I wired my network then returned this little headache. Problem solved. By the way, all the paperwork recommends this device for Windows Vista.
