I bought the memory in September 2008 ( at a discount price $379 on Amazon ) and have had it in my rig (evga 790i ultra+ Quad Core 6800 overclocked to 3.4 GHz+ 3-way 8800 Ultra SLI) for almost two months now, and works like a charm.

The fan is a bit useless (in my titghtly packed chassis anyway), and if your rig is well-cooled, I doubt you'll want make it noisier by adding the fan to it.

I'll continue overclocking the memory this weekend, and if it is stable, I might order two more sticks.
