So Far So Good... Aug 01, 2011
By D. Wortham The RAM came packaged in a box with the bubble pockets and it was in its original plastic shell packaging like you'd see at the store.
Let me just say to the manufacturer a hearty Thank You for finally making these clamshell packages user friendly by perforating the back for easy opening.
I had the RAM installed in minutes and the computer up and running a few minutes later with a quick romp through BIOS to set the required numbers. You can find that information at the Crucial web site. I highly recommend going there before you buy. They have a very cool utility that you can run that will tell you exactly what RAM is compatible with your motherboard. They guarantee compatibility. You also get to feel good about buying it cheaper at Amazon than their site :p
Once you've identified the correct RAM for your computer be very careful that you are actually purchasing the right RAM here. Amazon's search engine returns near misses. So you may end up on a page that looks correct but the mfg number is off by one or two characters.
I've had the RAM for about 5 weeks now and no problem. Well, I have had problems but not RAM related I'm happy to say. I like Crucial's reputation for handling RMAs too.
8 Gig of RAM woohoo!

faster than before Jan 09, 2011
By Ronald I have been reading about this modual, for about 5 months now, After reading reviews, one of them toms hardware.com, like anything man made, there are good points and there are bad ones, but the good out weighed the bad, a hundred fold, So i ordered them, I wasnt supprised when i installed them, imediatly after i booted up i noticed the change in speed and, bootup time, also the dreaded hourglass wait, is now a thing of the past, as long as i keep my PC free of spyware, trojans, adware, etc, im fine. When my system, slows down, i no i just need to run my, super antispy, and anti virus, clean the registry, and defragment. These 4 steps alone will boost your performance two fold. Then im up and running fast again, i would recomend this memory kit 100% Ronn King

Works Best @ 2.0V Aug 23, 2011

"Cat (Ear) Mode"
Initially I had memory and system instability issues with this RAM. After doing some toubleshooting online I found that most motherboards power their RAM @ 1.8V and that this RAM is unstable at slower speeds. This is high performance RAM and works best when properly powered and properly timed.
Since the RAM worked so well after fixing the power and timings I ordered another 4GB from Amazon and man this PC screams. My apps load faster and I can multitask with various apps and browsers open at the same time without putting my PC under too much load.
Pays for itself in my increased productivity! 5* Product After Properly Configured in BIOS. I have a feeling some of these low rated Amazon reviews suffered from the same issues I did initially due to improperly configured PCs.

ordering memory from Amazon Oct 03, 2010
By thowell This will be short and sweet; the product was delivered promptly (actually early), was exactly as described, the price was right, worked exactly as specified. There's not a thing that can be complained about.

Died after five months Mar 20, 2010
By P. Martin This worked great when I first installed it five months ago. The system performed well and was stable for the first few months. Over the last couple of months, however, I started seeing an occasional random program crash. No obvious cause so I assumed they were simply program bugs.
This got progressively worse until about a week ago when I got a Windows crash logged to a memory error. I reseated the memory to be sure, but things have rapidly gone down hill. I found the system down this morning and it wouldn't boot. I consistently got blue screens a few seconds into loading Windows. Safe mode didn't help at all.
In digging around on the net, I learned this has been a common problem with this Ballistix memory. It works at first but begins to fail after three to nine months. I replaced this memory with a couple of extra sticks of DDR2 memory I had on hand. The system booted without problem and has been stable.
I would expect these kinds of problems from some no-name bargain RAM. I certainly did not expect it from premium performance memory from a top-tier brand like Crucial. Very disappointing.
