1Make sure you keep the installation CD and everything else for return  Dec 04, 2011
By Roy G Biv
Mine was DOA. Not surprising, acutally, when one considers that the refurbished model costs about 1/4 as much as a new one. My unit, during attempted installation, kept telling me 1) My cable modem wasn't working [a temporary test modem worked fine], 2) Unable to activate router, and 3)Enter password. Enter password. Enter password. Enter password. I became a close friends with the reset button.

In fairness, Amazon responded quickly with a refund and free return shipping. I have read comments that Cisco-Linksys is not so forthcoming with warranty response.

Any product is going to have a certain failure rate. US companies have to estimate warranty losses in advance on their balance sheets. Nonetheless, I'm betting that D-Link's warranty liability is better than Liksys'. I was lucky that the Linksys died while it was still eligible for return to Amazon, which in this case, acquitted itself well.

5Router to the rescue  Apr 25, 2010
By Denis Overlandmiller
Love my refurbished Linksys Router. The price was cheaper than buying a new power supply for my old router that I lost moving.Refurbished products are the bomb!!! My Nikon D200 was refurbished and it has been a great camera for years and a bargain.

3Problems with Win 7 and IE9  Dec 31, 2011
By J_Farach "J Farach"
The vendor provides great service and the items arrived on time and as promised, this is a good purchase considering the amount of money I expend, I have a minor problem, however this cannot be attributed to the vendor but to Cisco/Linksys.

Everything works great if I boot my PC with Linux and use Firefox to access the web configuration utility of the router, but if I use Win 7 and IE9 the web configuration utility does not display the pages until I press the refresh button of the browser 2 or 3 times, however all other navigation works well in Win 7 and IE9 when you have the router already configured.
Also the setup wizard that comes on the CD with the product doesn't work on Win 7 x64.

I contacted Cisco/Linksys support and they told me that they are aware of this problem with IE9 and the web configuration utility but don't have a firmware with the patch already.

This is no big issue for me because besides the web configuration utility does not work properly with Win 7 and IE9 it does with Linux and Firefox, and also it works on Win 7 and IE9 if you press 2 or 3 times the refresh button on the browser after a page fails to display. But you need to know how to configure the router manually via the web configuration utility since the wizard does not work on Win 7 x64.

Let's hope that Cisco/Linksys release a new firmware patch to solve this problem.

2Defective out of the box  Dec 24, 2011
By David S.
This router did not work from day one. When I called Linksys tech support the first thing they said was: "Well, it is refurbished." As though I should lower my expectations for the product. Well, my expectations have been lowered, and I will not buy a Linksys product again.

5Didn't want to work  Jun 06, 2011
By Fred
At first after receiving the router it would not work. The software that was included with the router would only go to 99% of installing same and then it would stop because it could not locate the router claiming that my cables were incorrect and I had to purchase new cables. After several attempts to install it, I had to call Cisco Home Tech Support and after spending over an hour on the phone being walked through the process by a Tech Rep., it was discovered that the IP address within the router itself was wrong and after correcting the IP address it now works the way it was intended and I haven't had any problems with it since then. There was no manual included with the router to show you how to correct the incorrect IP address.
