5Excellent portable speakers  Jun 20, 2007
By Jerry Saperstein
These are perfect for the laptop owner who wants richer sound than his computer's internal speakers provide, but doesn't want, bulk batteries or another AC adapter.

First off, don't expect concert hall quality sound. These are portable speakers, not fine audio reproduction instruments. The sound quality is adequate. Doesn't sound tinny. There isn't a lot of base.

Second, for portability these are just plain great. the two speaker are of reasonable size. Not too big; not terribly small. An ingeniously designed phone plug serves as a stand so the speaker unit easily stands vertically. The unit connects through the USB port and installed without problems under Windows XP. There is a problem is you disconnect the speakers and reconnect them without booting. Windows XP doesn't recognize the reinsertion - you'll have to reboot.

Volume is more than sufficient for low-noise environments. Not silent environments; just low-noise, say a mid-range motel room with a kind of loud window air-conditioning/heating unit.

The pushbutton volume controls work well over a moderate range of steps.

Finally, Logitech provides a very nice carrying case.

In sum, these are a great pair of speakers for travelling laptop owners who want more audio than their laptop will provide, with the understanding that these speakers are not going to leave you feeling like you've just sat in Carnegie Hall or La Scala. The neatest part is that you don't need batteries or an AC adapter.

1Buy the Logitech V20 not the V10  Mar 30, 2008
By John B
I looked at both the Logitech V10 and V20 which are the same price in Australia at the moment to hook up to an Acer notebook which has very low volume with it's speakers. I think they might have discounted the V20.

When I got the V10s home I found the sound tinny and it had to be cranked up to the max 100 and even then playing a DVD it wasn't great. So quickly I was back at the shop I bought them from to get my money back. They didn't stock V20s.

At another outlet the sales assistant offered to demonstrate the V20s on a notebook in the shop. The V20s are twice the depth of the V10s otherwise pretty much the same height and width. They have a lot more bass (perhaps a bit too much) but you can listen to a lot of stuff online without being at the full volume capability of the speakers.

At the same price the V20s were a no brainer. LIke many here I needed a USB speaker for convenience when travelling. THe carry case for the V20 is far superior to the V10. The V20 case is the same size as the box it comes it. It's a black case with a zipper like a suitcase. Once unzipped the case has 3 partitions - 2 for the speakers and a space in the middle for the cables. The V10 carrycase is soft by comparision and more difficult to repack.

At the moment in Australia both the V10 and V20 are $59.95 at Officeworks. That's about $USD55. The sales assistant told me a week ago that the V20s were $99.95 (about $USD92) so have been marked down here.

5Great for What I Paid & How I'm Using This For  Sep 04, 2007
By HershonJones
I just spent $1100 for a Toshiba Notebook which I really like. The internal speaker sound on it is OK like most laptop internal speakers & acceptable to me but I wanted to get a louder, pokier sound for when I play back downloads.

These speakers are perfect for me. I got these brand new on Ebay for $16 and change & you should be able to get these under $20 New online if you look around. These speakers do exactly what I wanted them to do. They are louder, pokier & crisper then my internal speakers & are powered on by a simple USB cord. Nothing else needed. Plus very importantly, they are very small & light & have their own small stands. When it comes to listening properly to CDs & DVDS, etc., I rely on my fairly extensive sound system and speakers to listen to, I wouldn't use my laptop. So what I'm trying to say is, if you just want to boost your laptop sound to a better louder, pokier, sound, these are perfect. But if you are looking for the sound you'd get from an expensive audiophile sound system, I'm sure you could get better on much more expensive, bigger & heavier laptop speakers.

5Decent sound and portable  Dec 16, 2006
By N. Cianca
These speakers have better sound then the ones in my MacBook and are really easy to carry around in my bag. They are usb powered so there is no need for a power brick or batteries. They do lack a little on the bass side, but that's a trade-off for portability. I think that Logitech could have made the carry case also hold the cable internally rather then using the exterior velcro loop.

4Good notebook speaker value  Jan 19, 2007
By Mark D. Chamberlin "Mark C"
These little guys are highly compact and get power from USB. They are ideal travelers speakers. That why I got them. They sound great close /small group up but are lacking in watts for using for much of a group presentation. Still really decent sound for the price and a neat package for stuffing in your briefcase.
