 Outstanding Keyboard and Mouse Nov 23, 2007

We use allot of computers in my business. I use the MS wireless (split key) natural keyboard and mouse for my personal use because I like the angle it places my arms at.
We just picked up a few of these 4000 units.
My employees are very pleased with them in every way! They also like the slight angle it places there
arms and have told me they don't get as tired typing anymore.
We like the rechargeable batteries in them! No more battery expences!! Or downtime trying to locate new cells. We located the transmitters in a location above and away from the users desktop units.
The signal is very strong and the mouse is very responsive.
We have 10 of these in our office now. None of them conflict with one another at all! They don't seem to wear out near as fast as the standard keyboard, and our employees like the fact that They can sit back and place them on their lap.
I like the mouse without the tail so I can reach over
Pick it up and use it without having the person get out of his or her chair to show them something.
The other user review that says they are having problems might not have a good FULLY charged set of batteries and may not have the transmitter located up and away from the keyboard and mouse.
We picked up ours for $26.99 with 11.99 shipping...
On a final note: This mouse is not like a 4 button tilt wheel mouse I.E. (The Explorer 2.0 intellimouse) so if you want that style with the side buttons for advance configurations, than this laser 4000 unit might not work for you...

I just got this keyboard mouse combo today. It is a very good set. Extremely easy to set up and the laser works well. My keyboard is below my computer and laser and it still works fine. I was afraid that it would have to be directy in front of the receiver, but it doesn't. IT is going to take some time to get use to the keyboard setup though. It is hard to type on at first due to the layout. Also there are plenty of shortcut buttons both on the keyboard and mouse. Would definitely recommend.

Pros: lots of programmable keys, ambidextrous mouse is nice if you're a lefty.
Cons: unresponsive mouse, mediocre reception, intellipoint incompatibilities.
At first, I liked this combo. The keyboard is comfortable, and while the alternate home/end/del/pgup/pgdn configuration takes a bit of getting used to, I now like it better than the standard layout. The alternate F keys are annoying, but hitting F-lock returns it to the standard F1-12. The reception on the keyboard gets erratic once you get to around 10 feet away, and sometimes you have to turn the thing sideways for it to register. Still, the keyboard isn't really the problem.
The mouse, on the other hand, has all sorts of issues. First of all, reception is erratic. Even though the receiver is about 8 inches away from the mouse and level with each other (direct line of sight), somewhere between 1/3 and 1/4 of mouse clicks get dropped. Sometimes I'll sit there and click something 8 or 9 times, the mouse right in front of the receiver, before it finally registers the click. It's only the buttons though; mouse movement is fine until you get to about 4-5 feet away. Another mouse issue is the scroll wheel, whose tilt function feels fragile, and scrolling increments aren't defined, making it a pain if you need to scroll to specific spots.
The biggest oversight, though, is with microsoft's software, intellipoint. If you're using Vista, intellipoint is incompatible with certain programs when it comes to the scroll wheel. For example, in iTunes, 90% of scrolling doesn't register, making it painful to scroll through your music library. Microsoft even knows about the issue, and is addressed here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828677 but their first workaround didn't fix it for me. I had to uninstall intellitype, rendering my side buttons and tilt scrolling useless.

The keyboard works fine, good connection, but the wireless mouse reception has ALWAYS been low or poor, and I have the receiver 6 inches away from it! I'm sure there are better options out there. Good luck. Logitech seems to have better products...

While everything else about this keyboard/mouse combo is fine, the mouse is unable to handle what was originally the very core function of Windows in the first place: it cannot scroll through open programs. I worked with technical support for two hours trying to find a workaround to program in the Alt-Tab key combo to no avail. Funny how MS lost sight of it's own mission there....go Logitech.
