Fastest I've tested Sep 30, 2008

These are really awesome. I've had OCZ core drives before and the experience was so bad I have to return it back due to extreme long latency causing system to freez up. The patriot drive had no issues at all, night and day difference. These are a bit slower compare to the advertised speed, I am benching about 150mb/ s or so instead of advertised 170mb/s "up to" speed. When read larger files, it felt pretty close to that speed. Regardless, fantastic product. If you are in the market for a solid state drive, DO NOT get the OCZ drives, get this instead!

Patriot SSD Mar 16, 2009
By Jose Valenzuela Just installed it on my Macbook pro and has worked flawlessly. Leopard loads in under 25secs and XP in about 35secs. It is not a large ssd but if you have an external hd then your set. Very fast, you can tell the difference between my old 7200 rpm and this one. I payed $150 for it thru compusa.

Don't Buy if you are looking for performance Jun 19, 2009
By Ravi S I bought this SSD for my new Dell Vostro , what a mistake. I cannot work 5 minutes without the computer stuttering. It just freezes and the HD light stays on for 5-10 Sec. I cannot watch a video on the web. It looks like it is because of these cheap SDD. I am going back to my regular HD. While I had it, it was very quiet. I used to hate the HD noise.

just horrible stuttering Feb 08, 2009
By George Zachary this SSD is based on the JMicron controller and thus only has 16K cache. When multitasking, it makes your system hang and stutter. just horribly.
Only intel SSDs have enough cache (256K) to avoid this problem. Do yourself a favor and only buy an SSD with enough cache. Right now thats only intel's X-25 series. Or dont buy anything and keep your HDD.

I bought this drive because I heard the advantages of solid state drives being performance-oriented and reliable. Everything was smooth for the first month until I started experiencing stuttering and freezes until eventually the drive was no longer bootable.
I am quite surprised as Patriot has never done me wrong before. I purchased some DDR2 and a flash drive that both worked great however this drive has been nothing but headaches. Fortunately for me, Patriot Support reps and RMA staff was able to get my drives replaced promptly. Hopefully my replacement drive lasts this time. *Crosses Fingers*
