4Worth The Price  Mar 09, 2007
By Marco Ayala "DarkLink"
I was overall pretty sattisfied with the product. It came with the tuner, all neccessary drives, remote control (which I never used), and WinDVR to capture footage with.

It did pretty much what it promised, allows you to capture from any analog device such as a VCR or anything with Compostite Out jacks. Only problem is that the actuall tuner itself does not have an audio in left and audio in right, therefore forcing you to buy a audio composite to stereo 3.5mm jack. Another problem was the ability to only capture in the resolution of 720x480(unless you buy other expensive capturing programs). I recommend getting the free program Virtualdub and compressing to divx after you capture as many codecs drop frames when trying to compress while capturing(at least on my computer[2.2gHz proccessor])

Overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase and do recommend it IF you can't or won't afford anything better. Now, I leave you with a list of Pros and Cons.

Pros:

1. Captures decent-to-good looking quality video if configure right.

2. Great for getting all that old VCR footage on the computer and on to a DVD

3. Very simple to install, and comes with capturing program. Though VirtualDub is highly recommended.

4. Three video inputs - RF signal, Compostie, and S-video!

5. External device, so you don't have to open your PC.

Cons:

1. Composite audio to stereo 3.5 mm jack needed for sound.

2. Extremely large files unless compressed with VirtualDub afterwards.

3. Can only capture in 720x480 resolution. Unless expensive programs are bought.

4. I guess you get what you pay for but quality could be a bit better.

3Pretty Well.... But Not So Good  Jun 18, 2006
By Fredy Castillo "fredyesc128"
In my opinnion this product it's pretty well by the price but depends a lot of the configuration of the computer and the signal that you get.

A regular "USER" will have a lot of problems, the computer reboots and a Blue Screen (clasic blue screen of windows due to memory problems) appears when i unplugged the tv box.

I test it also in Win2000 SP4 and i can't put the tv box working in that OS.

After many test i found the way to work properly, i always see if the pc have SP2 and DirectX 9.0c and then i use the wizard of New Hardware Found to install the driver and then install the remote control and the application. in that way the box function properly but DEPENDS A LOT OF THE SIGNAL because i use an internal antenna and is very difficult to get a good sign.

Whit RCA (composed) an S-Video works fine but somethimes the image blinks also the audio so... it is a good product for the price but you can find a better ones.

When you are using the remote control and press OFF the entire PC is shut down not only the application so....

But i can't complain... To watch the World Cup on your work is a very good option. The box function, after many try's works fine.

I bought 15 tv boxes and all function well. no one was broke. !!!

(sorry for my not so good english)

3Good enough, yet not a nice buy.  Jun 02, 2006
By J. Hernandez
It works pretty well with S-video and composed, but TV capture is bad, the good thing is the price, is really cheap, but if you want to capture with nice quality don't bother with this one.

Would not install. Period. (Modern Alienware laptop, XP, properly updated)

I tried all the techniques mentioned in the reviews. I tried following the instructions. I tried doing what Windows wanted. No matter. Nothing but the Blue Screen. It's going back.

5Great Product - I'm really impressed  Mar 22, 2007
By Paul Levin
I read the reviews on this site and others and they were 50-50. Half the people loved this thing and half hated it. I figured with those odds and this low price, I'd give it a shot. I don't understand what problems those who hated it were having. I had no trouble at all. In under 5 minutes I was watching TV on my computer.

The first step was to read the small setup manual that came with it. I connected the device to the cable line in my house and then plugged the USB into my Win XP laptop. As per the instruction I cancelled Window's new device window, then installed the drivers and software for the CD. It went perfectly smoothly.

I bought this device to transfer a video from my camera to the PC. The only hitch was the audio connection on the Sabrent does not match the audio connector on my camera. No problem. I put the tape into a VCR and connected with the TV cable. Moments later I was recording the video to my PC.

There is a ton of features in the software, that I need to start playing with. I also downloaded VirtualDub [...]) so I can edit the video. For the price of the Sabrent, I'm really impressed.
