3OK, but output quality is questionable.  Aug 02, 2007
By The lonely "MI"
I have used this on an HDTV, so this rating is based on the quality of the component HD output and not on the VGA output.

The good news is that it works and you can set and adjust the resolution and the picture color and other parameters. The only thing that did not work was the 480P output from the Nintendo Wii. The 480i output from the Wii have worked but with poor quality of 720p/1080i ouput compared to the 480P output without the vid2vgatv scaler.

The output from other sources worked fine, although you might be disappointed especially if you had high expectations like I did. Even after adjusting the color, contrast, brightness ... etc., if you compare the output of the vid2vgatv output to a upscaling dvd player, there is a considrabel difference, the quality of the upscaling dvd player is way much better.

5Plug and play for me  May 04, 2010
By Chris
My scenario was that I was getting rid of an old analog TV and replacing it with a fairly old LCD that was surplus from work (IBM 6658-hg2 to be precise). Ran DVD, VCR, and Wii into a three-way composite video/audio switcher, audio output to my stereo, video output to this box.

Worked from the get go, no adjustment necessary, and much nicer video than I was getting in composite, although to be fair the composite was going into an RF modulator to get into my real old analog TV. Anyway, what I am seeing is nicer than I'm used to seeing and certainly pretty good quality by my standards. Even though the gear I've replaced makes me a real throwback, I'm actually a media professional and pay fairly close attention to things like video quality.

From the reviews I had read, I did not expect much from the cheap converters, so I went for this more expensive item.

4Excellent converter box  Nov 23, 2010
By Simon
I use this to export an S-video signal to a VGA capture card on our studio computer, and it works very well. Other converter boxes are cheaper, but this one is well worth the extra cost. It has many user-configurable options that can be accessed via the onscreen menu, even though the menu is a little tricky to actually navigate. I specifically needed a box that took a 1024 x 768 signal and converted it to a 1280 x 720 signal, and this converter box handles this magnificently. Yes the resulting image is stretched out, but that's fine for our recording needs.
