This card works great in my system. Haven't done any benchmarking, but the drives connected to this card don't seem to be any slower than the ones connected to the MB controller. So far, I've been very happy with this card.

There's a reason why a card that's now already several years old is a hot seller: it fills a real need for those of us with older but competent and capable machines, that want to step into the SATA world; and most especially for those of us that need more than just a couple of drives in order to do things like sound/video editing. Highly recommended for those of us!
