Works but is VERY directional Aug 01, 2008
By J. Wu I recently purchased this to increase the wireless signal within a 2-story building that has numerous walls in between the modem on the second floor and the computers on the first floor. With this antenna, I'm able to boost the wireless signal from about 50% to about 65% as long as the antenna is pointed at exactly the right location. A few degrees up/down/left/right will tend to decrease the amount of signal by a few percent.
When I further compared this device to the Super Cantenna (rated at 12dbi) WIRELESS GARDEN SCB03 Cantenna Wireless Network Booster, this antenna clearly performs better. However, when this antenna is compared to the Hawking HAI17MD Hawking HiGain Directional Antenna, mini indoor, 7dBi - HAI7MD, the difference is minimal. Pairing this antenna with a Hawking HSB2 Hawking HiGain Signal Booster version 2 - HSB2, I was able to receive 100% signal which surprisingly even outperformed our commercial grade D-Link 7700AP access point (the D-Link typically provided about 70-75% signal without any enhancements or boosters).
All in all, a cheap antenna that does work (although perhaps not as well as one would expect from something with 14db gain) but requires exact placement and a booster to really make it shine.
Note: You may need additional cables/connectors to hook this antenna up to your network. You will probably need at least an N-Type male to Reverse SMA Female connector (which you can get from the Trendnet Outdoor Arrestor Kit) TRENDnet Outdoor Arrestor Kit (Includes Reverse SMA to N-Type Converter) and if necessary, an antenna extension cable TRENDnet N-Type to N-Type Cable / 6M (19.7t.) or LMR400 N-type cable equivalent (try eBay).

Outstanding performance. Apr 14, 2010

Simple to install, and perfect for the job. I have been using several of these in corporate environments to push long distances for wireless connectivity. Things to be aware of: Remember that every time a wiresless link is ADDED to a network, throughput it HALFED. Also, make sure to know what type of connection is on your access point or router. You might need an adapter. Make sure that you purchase a cable to run to your router as the attached cable is only 12 inches long. Seems well weatherproofed and functions perfectly. I *HIGHLY* recommend this product.

Works great Apr 04, 2009

Shooting signal across about 175 yards from one home to another. 2 Linksys wrt54g's on each end (the receiving side is in bridged mode), and the trendnet outdoor antenna on the sending side. Enough signal strength to provide signal inside the home. I may need another access point, because in bridged mode the receiving side only picks up signal, and does not send it through the home. But I have the wired cat 5 directly to this pc that i'm using right now.

Great antenna! Feb 08, 2009
By Greg/Kathy We spend the winter in an RV park in Mexico and as the wireless internet antenna is at the office on the other side of the park with many RVs in between, we've had pretty poor reception. This year we took TrendNet's antenna with us and our reception has been great! We mounted it on a pole with direct line of sight. When we leave, we'll leave the pole for next year but take the antenna with us to use other places. It improved our signal just setting it up directly on top of the RV. It was a great investment!

Works exactly as advertised. May 11, 2011

A lot of poor reviews of wifi antennas or routers are due to a lack of basic knowledge.
This antenna works absolutely wonderfully if mounted somewhere with a clear view of the area you are trying to extend your network to. I mounted this bad boy about 15-20ft up a tree in my backyard and ran a trendnet low loss cable to a $35 buffalo router inside. I get 4 bars in the entire wooded backyard and down the alley; 25mb! It works like a charm. However, this is directional, so don't expect many, if any, bars behind it. Think of it as an icecream cone shaped extension of your wifi signal.
