Easy to install and it works May 09, 2009
By Sandie This product is easy to install and it works. I have purchased different types of adapters before for different things and it can be hit or miss as far as having them work. Fortunately, this product works in my PC, which is an older model IBM laptop that I use for back up. A plastic piece on the connector to its USB port broke and since the computer had only one USB port, it would have been a significant loss. But this product plugs into the PCMCIA slot and comes with a CD with a driver on it, and it installed right away. It doesn't require an external power source nor does it have to plug into anything else. I'm happy with it.

Didn't work with my laptop Jun 19, 2008
By C. B. Smith I installed the card according to the instructions (drivers first, then the card), and Windows XP saw and installed the hardware with no problems. However, whenever I tried to insert a thumb drive it would lock up the computer, forcing a hard shutdown and reboot. This happened with two different brands of thumb drives. I tried system restore and installing the card using XP's native drivers, but the problem persisted. I don't know if the problem is with the USB card or with my laptop (a Dell Inspiron 2650 with USB 1.1 ports). Fortunately Amazon has a good return policy.

Slick! Jul 02, 2009
By R. D. Collins This device installed easily and works great with my 7-year-old old Dell Latitude C400.
My Verizon wireless modem works well with it; the software that operates the modem (VZAccess Manager) now loads much more quickly, and downloads from the Internet are much faster than before.
It works well with jump drives, which transfers data much, much faster than with the computer's built-in USB1.1 port.
The only drawback seems to be that it doesn't provide enough power for my external USB drive.
All in all, I'm happy with it

This one is recommended Jul 07, 2009
By Roger J. Venable Snaps in crisply and makes reliable connections, both with the PC's bus and with the USB 2.0 devices. Works perfectly. I've tried some other brands that have loose, unreliable connections, so I am delighted with this one. With my system, it required no software loading, but the drivers are included with it on a disk, in case you need them.
