Works perfectly! May 11, 2009
By Karl Huddleston
"A/V Nut"
I bought this originally to reduce glare as I was getting strong eye-strain and occasionally headaches from staring at a computer all day. And in that sense it works great - I can actually turn up the contrast and brightness on my screen with this filter on and not have any eye-strain. For privacy it is quite simply amazing! My colleagues at work are always teasing me saying "why are you staring at your monitor when it's turned off?" If you go off axis at all you literally think the monitor is off. But if you're sitting right in front of it, it looks great. Due to the size of this monitor (22") you do see a slight bit of the shading even looking straight on (i think it's unavoidable in this size given how the filter works its intention) but if you're doing normal computer work (documents, web pages etc) it's not noticeable after a minute. If you are a graphic artist, it might bug you a bit as you may not get an ultra accurate display of colors and/or resolution but the filter is easily removable if you opt not to use the included clear tape adhesive to mount it. I did end up using the tape because the filter didn't quite stay firmly mounted. (it bowed a bit on the sides) and unfortunately you can slightly see the little pieces of tape, but since they're on the sides, I don't really notice them. I would never use this at home but at work it has been worth every penny.

Not too bad but not ideal for cubicle city Jun 17, 2009
By R. Adamjee I bought this product because of two needs -- cut down the glare on my LCDs and keep the content private. It works great to cut the glare. The privacy filter is okay. I expected the image to be blurry when looking at it from afar but it is not. I was hoping for it be clear only when you are right in front of it. People walking about 10 feet away can see what is on there as long as they are right in front of it.

as good as expected Apr 30, 2009
By L. Wang I'd 3M privacy filter on my other notebook for years. Targus filter works as good as 3M's. Even the "Thumb / Notch area" in top right side are the same. I couldn't help to guess the relationship between these 2. Besides the "Tab", Targus also offer double sided transparent tape, which is what I'm using now. "Tab" can provide an option to slot in and out the filter, but it looks ugly and dust builds upon it.
Might need more time to test out its claimed "anti glare" feature. Based on my 3M experience, polarized filter actually limit and diffuse glare, but never remove it. Right expectation makes me a happier customer.

Privacy only from certain angles Jun 18, 2009
By Emily Burns I bought this as a privacy filter for work. I work in a cube and can't stand people coming up behind me. For this purpose, it does not work. Even at a 45 degree angle, if you are any distance from the screen, you can still see it very well. It would work decently well for an airline seat, because the angle is more acute (more like 15 degrees). Do bear in mind your reason for purchasing. It's very expensive for what it is. Makes me wish I were in the privacy screen business!

Targus privacy filter Aug 09, 2008
By John H. Maberry The product works fine for the purpose it is intended--as a privacy filter. I bought it primarily for the anti-glare properties to be able to use my laptop outdoors. It works OK for that but it does darken the screen a bit more than I would like. If I could make the laptop display brighter that would be a solution but it seems not to be adjustable in that way.
