Excellent Design -- Great for Travel Feb 09, 2009

Contrary to an earlier poster's comment, I experienced no problem with the ethernet cable. The design is ideal for travel, just put the device in your laptop case and you're all set. The 4-port usb hub does not require an external power source although if necessary one can be purchased. I rate it a buy.

I have only been using this item for a few days, but it works just fine, is easy to use, and is made even more nifty by its compact size. Its only Achilles Heel is what makes it so great: it weighs nothing! (one would have wished that it had a bit of weight so it would sit more firmly on the table surface). I didn't expect anything less of a Targus product!!! Oh, and did I mention that this is in fact a 2-in-1 article: a USB hub and a 1½ yard long ethernet cable with self-retracting cables (one out of each end of the cable box). How happy I am that I picked up the very last exemplar advertised on Amazon!!!!!

Definitely would not recommend. The ethernet cable connectors are too small and require much tinkering to remove. Poor design. The 4-port hub works as advertised.
