Good for what it was designed for. Nov 22, 2009
By Domel I see some buyers are trying to use this product to find wires in walls, this is not what this was designed for and it will not work. I work in I.T. and often do some wiring, this is very good for finding where each network drop was patched in. My only wish would be that instead of the RJ11 plug (standard phone plug) it had a RJ45. But with a little self made converter it does the job right. You can't beet the price of some other more professional network probes.

Good product Jan 06, 2011
By samiam713 Any one who is in the telecomm world knows Ideal makes a good product and this one falls into that catagory, my only complaint is the light gage cords and the lack of a carying case. If you use this toner every day you will need to make a new aligater clip attachment eventualy, the good part is that there are no propriatary parts and you can easily make the clips in the field.

Great product for the $ Nov 29, 2010
By John F. Matthew Wow, for what you get this is a great product. I comes with everything I needed to tone out my wires in my house, and it's very reliable.
I highly recommend this product.

Tone Generator for Light Duty Applications Sep 21, 2011
By Aspen Logic Guy I needed to move a DSL connection from my old office to a new office. This tone generator allowed me to quickly identify the pairs from the wall jack used in my old office for the DSL service, and for the pairs from my new office wall jack at their termination in the wiring closet. Then it was a piece of cake to move the connections. Saved a bunch of money having a phone technician come and do it for me. It probably is not as tough as a full price commercial grade unit but it works well. My only complaint would be that it didn't have a bag/case to carry all the pieces in. I highly recommend it for the occasional job.

Great Sep 09, 2011
By Mr. G. F. Mckenzie Does exactly what I expect, like the option of changing the connection from tone to phone jack to tone to the pair of wires. Also useful having the tone inside the probe. I use it in my job as a Telecoms technician.
