Description:

Tripp Lite's 120V 20A metered PDU system with Automatic Transfer Switching (ATS) is a 16 outlet PDU with a digital display to indicate total PDU power consumption in amps. Outlets are sequentially turned-on at 250 millisecond intervals when the PDU is first energized from an unpowered state to prevent inrush-related equipment interaction on startup. Installed web/work monitoring card enables remote power monitoring and control. Remotely displays status of input power load capacity and outlet power status via secure work or web browswer interface. Offers individual outlet control to power on off or cycle AC output to regain control of locked-up servers and other work devices. Load ramping and shedding provides automatic power management. Supports notification and logging of input power status event notification output power and load conditions. Supports 1U rackmount installation in a 2 or 4 post racks.Primary InformationPower Device Type :  Power distribution unit Voltage Provided :  AC 120 V ( 50/60 Hz ) Voltage Required :  AC 120 V Power Provided (W) :  2400 VA Power Provided (VA) :  2400 VA Power Device / Form Factor :  Rack-mountable Networking Type :  Ether 10/100 Interfaces & Connections :  Interfaces: 1 x management - 9 pin D-Sub (DB-9) 1 x management - RJ-45 1 x management - 8 pin mini-DIN 1 x management - 6 pin mini-DIN (PS/2 style) Input Connector(s) :  2 x power NEMA 5-15 Output Connector(s) :  16 x power NEMA 5-15/20 Enclosure Color :  Black Width :  17.5 Inch Depth :  14.5 Inch Height :  1.7 Inch Compliant Standards :  NOM RoHS Service & Support Type :  2 years warranty Special FeatureRoHS :  Y UNSPSC CodeUNSPSC Cod

1Fails after about 2 years, check your device for overheating diodes  Feb 07, 2011
By Bernd Pfrommer
This device has an amazing feature set: lots of outlets, automated transfer switch, and switchable outlets at a very low price.

I deployed 4 of those devices at a high-end data center in May of 2008. Now, 2.5 years later, three of them have complete loss of power on their primary feed, and have failed over to the secondary feed. One of the units was only connected to a primary feed, so when the primary feed input failed, the power to all connected devices went down.

I opened the failed devices to examine, and found that diode D55 on the primary input circuit is burned out. The circuit board underneath the secondary feed's diode D50 looks black as well, indicating that it would probably burn out next, at which point both input feeds are lost, and with it power to all outlets. To anybody who owns one of these units: examine the circuit board around D50 and D55 for burn marks.

In summary, within 2.5 years, 3 out of the 4 devices had a failure on the input feed circuit. The device looks like a bargain, but appears to have some design flaws. Use only for home, not for a data center!!!

5diode replaced with higher spec model  Feb 10, 2012
By Ward "Ward"
I gave this review 5 stars to counter the 1 star reviews, based on the information below.

I just chatted with a Tripplite customer service agent who told me two things:

a) the devices with the problematic diode have been recalled and Tripplite replaced the diode with a higher rated model

b) all new units have the higher rated diode

I just ordered one of these; I guess I'll know in 3 years if the diode has really been fixed.

1Tripp lite PDU issues  Jan 01, 2012
By Greg Dye, Briggs Electric
I am also having the same problem with the D50 and D55 diodes on the Tripp lite PDUMH20AT power board. I lost both of them on one PDU and one each in two other after less than three years in operation. The unit that lost both diodes was the main PDU for our server rack and it dumped all three servers that it was feeding. This is not a good referral for anyone wanting to use the Tripp Lite product.
